While my experiences with this laptop have not gone as terribly as the other reviewers, I have had nearly constant minor issues including:
- The CD/DVD player sometimes is totally nonresponsive
- HP Multimedia software doesn't work well
- The battery gets very hot
- While working, the battery lasts under and hour (has been this way since I got it)
- Sometimes doesnt wake up from Sleep mode and requires a hard stop
- Occasionally just operates REALLY SLOW for no reason. When I inspect what processes it might be running behind the scenes I find nothing. Takes 1 or 2 restarts for it to get back to normal.
- In the first month, I was trying to scrape off what looked like "sneeze residue" from the screen, and it was actually a bubble in the screen and so now I have a white spot on my screen the size of pencil tip.
- Doesn't install Windows Updates correctly so I have to wait 20 minutes for the update and another 10 minutes to revert changes. This happens a couple times a month (always when I am in a hurry)
With the exceptions of these issues, this laptop is fast, has a big beautiful screen, multitasks well, and has a good price (I got mine for $800 in August 2007).
Unfortunatly, all these issues combined are too much to handle and make this purchase one I regret. The funny thing is that 6 months after buying this laptop, I bought my wife a $500 Dell laptop and it has been perfectly reliable with no issues at all.
